Paul McCartney

Game Informer got an exclusive interview with Paul McCartney about the upcoming Rock Band Beatles game. This is a very interesting interviews, and quite funny as well. It reveals the “behind the scenes” of The Beatles : Rock Band and how Paul was convinced to develop the game along with Harmonix and MTV.

Here’s McCartney’s answer on how he was first approached about The Beatles : Rock Band
“We’re always kind of looking for ideas. Post-the actual Beatles career, what tends to happen is ideas just come in, people say, “Do you want to do a movie? You wanna do a thing? Do you want to do a show in Vegas?” So we sift those ideas, as they come to us. I believe this came to us via Dhani Harrison, who’s a gamer and he’s of the generation. So he came up in conversation, “Would you like to do a video game?” And I was like, “Yeah, how would that work? Talk to me.” He’s like, “You can do this, you can do this, we’ll call people who can do it, Harmonix and Rock Band people.”

“Yeah, let’s just see, let’s talk to them.” So it came in as an idea and I think just immediately we were interested in it. Then it was either going to be great or not, like The Love Show, like any of these other ideas. If it wasn’t a good idea, then we’d go, “We’re cool on it.” If it’s a good idea we heat up; like this one, it just got better and better.”

The Beatles Rock Band On Wikipedia

The Beatles Rock Band On Wikipedia

If anyone needs a prove that the Beatles Rock Band is going to change the world of video games, well, you got it! The Beatles Rock Band s the first game ever to be featured on Wikipedia before it’s official launch!

Here is how wikipedia describes the game:

The Beatles: Rock Band is a music video game developed by Harmonix Music Systems, published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts. It is the third major console release in the Rock Band music video game series and, like other games in the series, it allows players to simulate the playing of rock music by using controllers shaped like musical instruments. The game consists of 45 songs by The Beatles spanning the band’s career, along with virtual depictions of the band members performing the songs. Future downloadable content for the game will feature additional songs and full albums from The Beatles, such as the entirety of Abbey Road shortly after the game’s release.

The game will be released internationally on 9 September 2009, coinciding with the release of new, remastered CD versions of The Beatles albums. The game will be shipped as a bundle with themed instrument controllers and as a standalone game for which all existing Rock Band and compatible music game accessories can be used. The game incorporates many of the gameplay features of the Rock Band series; however, it is not an expansion pack for the Rock Band series, and content for it and other Rock Band titles will not be cross-compatible; Harmonix co-founder Alex Rigopulos describes the game as “… a new, full game title production built from the ground up.”

The game has been developed with the blessing and critical input of Apple Corps, including former Beatles members Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. George Harrison’s son Dhani championed the game’s creation and helped to bridge discussion between Harmonix and Apple Corps, while Giles Martin, son of The Beatles’ music producer George Martin, was able to assure high-fidelity audio from songs recorded on older mediums to integrate properly with Rock Band’s gameplay. The Beatles: Rock Band features virtual representations of the popular quartet and their ten-year career as a band. Gameplay mechanics differ slightly from previous Rock Band games; in particular, the addition of a three-part vocal harmony system.
