The Beatles: Rock Band, Not Selling According To Expectations.
ByIt seems like the 2009 Beatlemania has nothing to do with the one broke out in the 60’s.
Although heavily marketed with millions spent on developing the game and on advertising, The Beatles: Rock Band is not selling as good as analysists predicted few months ago.
The game sold only 583,000 in his first month, down 40% from the expected volume (Analysts predicted it will sell more than 1,000,000 units in the first month).
However, TB:RB beat it’s chief competition, Guitar Hero 5″ by nearly a 2:1 margin in September.
The most popular game sold was The Beatles Rock Band For xBox, selling 254,000 units. The nintendo Wii version sold 208,600 copies with the PS3 landing in 3rd place, selling nearly 121,000 copies.
MTV Games, who developed the game with their sister company Harmonix, say they are anything but disappointed and that The Beatles Rock Band is selling the expected number of units, according to internal expectations.
The less than stellar performance of “The Beatles: Rock Band” is tied, in part, to the ongoing woes of the music/dance genre. While September showed a 72 percent dollar sales increase over the 2008 numbers, the category as a whole is still down markedly year-over-year.
However, sales are expected to grow during the holiday season.
